HI, I'M TAYLOR!

My name is Taylor Nimmo and I'm proud to be a multimedia journalist. I believe the best journalists are curious, quick-thinking, persistent, and bold. Most importantly, I believe in the power of media and the importance of journalists delivering factual, reliable, and unbiased information to our communities. The ability to interview a wide range of people with diverse backgrounds and share their stories is one of the most rewarding aspects of my job. 
I’ve put together a selection of my most recent and memorable work as well as more about my background and experience as a journalist.

REPORTING

I'm currently a Multimedia Journalist in Traverse City, Michigan. One of my strongest qualities as a journalist is my ability to connect with people. There's nothing that brings me more joy than making someone feel comfortable opening up and helping their voice to be heard. I am resilient. When given an assignment, I pour everything I have into that story. I seek out the facts and I will not stop until the story is complete and fully executed.

WEATHER

During my time in Traverse City, I got the opportunity to forecast and deliver the weather on the weekends. Doing the weather pushed me out of my comfort zone and has made me an exponentially better reporter. Thanks to my experience with weather, I am comfortable talking  without a script. In turn, live shots are so much easier for me. Anyone can read a prompter or memorize a script, but I believe my unique background with weather sets me apart as a reporter. I can confidently talk about a story or what's going on at a scene with no hesitation.

OHIO UNIVERSITY, E.W. SCRIPPS SCHOOL OF JOURNALISM

I first began my career as a journalist at Ohio University. (Go Bobcats!) I majored in broadcast journalism and minored in Meteorology. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I met lifelong friends and developed a deep passion for journalism. I learned that journalism is built on truth, accuracy, and independence. I graduated Spring of 2019. Athens, Ohio will always hold a special place in my heart.
